With Tyrell Malacia yet to convince the manager of his performance after returning from a lengthy injury and Luke Shaw's constant injury struggles, Amorim could consider reuniting with his former player who made his senior debut under the Portuguese manager at Sporting CP in 2020.

The report also adds that Amorim has tried Shaw as a left centre-back in his training sessions as he wants to deploy a 3-4-3 formation, however, the English defender is still not fit enough to take the field in the coach's debut game against Ipswich Town on Sunday in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen if the Red Devils will go after the Portugal international in the January transfer window as they are to figure out the amount they will be able to pay after keeping FFP rules in mind.
