ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Wrexham have been the talk of the town for the last few years since their Hollywood takeover by Reynolds and McElhenny. After a slow first couple of years, Wrexham gained promotion from the National League, the fifth-tier of English football and haven't looked back since. With three promotions in as many seasons, the Red Dragons have now confirmed their spot in the Championship next season and Phil Parkinson's side are now set to begin preparations for a fourth-straight promotion, this time to the Premier League.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Telegraph has now reported that Wrexham are considering signing Fulham midfielder Cairney this summer as a priority. The 34-year-old has been a major part of Fulham's season in the Premier League, and the Red Dragons believe that the Scottish veteran could play a pivotal part in central positions. Reynolds and McElhenney's team have always believed that adding experience to the squad is the right way forward as they attempt to achieve their goal of reaching the Premier League.

DID YOU KNOW?
To sign Cairney this summer, Wrexham will definitely have to break the bank and surpass their current transfer record fee, which they set earlier this year in January, when they signed Sam Smith from Reading for a fee of £2 million ($2.6m).

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
The Red Dragons may not be done shopping in the Premier League just yet, as they will be looking to further strengthen their squad for the Championship. However, the finances of the transfers could be something to keep an eye on this summer.
